MEASURING GUIDE

GENERAL POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN MEASURING

  • All our blinds are custom made to the measurements provided , so take extreme care when taking your measurements.

  • Use a steel tape measure

  • Measurements should always be in millimeter (width x drop)

  • Measure all windows even if they appear to be the same

  • Look out for obstructions like door handles, tiling halfway up the wall and skirting that may interfere with the blind drop.

REVEAL FIX

This fixing method allows for the blind to be fitted inside the window recess. This gives the neatest finish and is the most popular way of fitting blinds. You should provide us with the exact measurements of the opening, we will then automatically subtract 5mm per side (both left and right) in the factory for easy clearance of the blind.

  • Take three width measurements as indicated, use the shortest of the three measurements for the actual width of the recess.

  • Take three drop measurements as indicated and use the shortest of the three measurements for the actual drop of the recess.

REVEAL FIX WITH CUT OUT

This often the case in bathrooms or kitchens when wall tiling is done halfway up the wall. The same process as above is followed, however now you also have to measure the tiles that are in the way in order to do a cut out for these. The same process is followed for dado rails that protrude into the recess and also in the case of doors where skirting at the bottom may end up being in the way of the blind.

  • Take similar measurements as above but also include measurements 3, 7
    and 8.

  • If the width of the tiles is not equal on both sides then be sure to indicate these different measurements on your supplied measurements.

Be sure to specify that you want your blind reveal fixed should this be the case. A standard valance would also be included in a reveal fix blind.

FACE FIX

This fixing method allows for the blind to be fitted outside the window recess, on the face of the wall. This method is usually used when the window recess has been taken up by burglar bars or in the absence of an adequate window recess. It is also used in the case of doors to allow for more walk-through height when the blind is in the 'pulled-up' position.

  • Take one width and one drop measurement.

  • The blind normally goes 50mm past both left and right side, 100mm to 150mm above and 50mm below if no window cill is in the way.

  • This option is normally more expensive as a bigger blind is required than when a reveal fix is done.

Be sure to specify that you want your blind face fixed should this be the case.  A box valance would also be included with a face fix blind in order to adequately hide the head rail.

When placing your order for either 'reveal fix' or 'face fix' blinds, you have the option to either provide us with the recess size and we will do the necessary deductions or add-on's in the case of 'face fix', or you can specify the finished size that you require. Either way be sure to be clear on this when placing the order.
