With the advent of 'green living' most manufacturers of real wood flooring are moving towards Engineered Wood Flooring as an alternative to solid wood flooring. Engineered wooden floors are manufactured using various layers of softer and less scarce wood making up the body of the plank, a top layer of the chosen wood species makes up the remainder of the engineered wood flooring plank. The top layer is usually between 3mm and 6mm in thickness. Engineered flooring is often more stable than solid wood flooring and offers the same re-surfacing possibilities as that of solid wood. An even 'Greener' option to solid wooden floors would be Bamboo flooring. Bamboo, technically a grass not a wood, can be harvested every five years making it an excellent renewable resource. Bamboo flooring is also harder than most hardwoods offering great durability. All real wood flooring products promoted on this website are pre-finished and require no sanding or sealing on site. Most of the products shown on this page are fitted in the same way as a laminate floor, the planks therefore click together by means of a glue-free click system, making it therefore ideally suited for the DIY enthusiast.
