There are various different options of plastic blinds on the market today and they are marketed under the names plastic, styro, plasswood, fauxwood etc. These blinds are usually used where wooden blinds would not be suitable eg. wet areas like bathrooms. Historically plastic blinds were significantly less expensive than wooden blinds. This has however changed in recent times as the price of wooden blinds have come down significantly due to their rise in popularity. From a distance the plastic blinds look very similar to wooden blinds. Some plastic blinds have detailed wood grains printed on them and others even have embossed textures to imitate wood.

50mm Plaswood blinds function and look the same as basswood blinds however are made of a plastic material and are suited for areas like Bathrooms

When considering Styro/Plastic

  • A continuous look can be created throughout the home by carefully selecting styro blinds for bathrooms and kitchens that look similar to wooden blinds elsewhere in the home.

  • They are water resistant and will therefore not easily damage due to accidental spills or when windows are accidentally left open during rain storms.

  • Styro/Plastic blinds do not bend like aluminium blinds.

  • Styro/Plastic blinds are available in a wide variety of colours and textures.

  • Good privacy characteristics. Venetian blinds can be tilted to an extent where one can look out but it is not easy to look in.

  • They require very little maintenance and are easily cleaned with a damp cloth
